My obsession with twin designs started years ago when I finished the tour back in 2006. I’ve experimented with traditional wide tail keel designs through to high performance twin variants. The Volume Twin is my interpretation of a modern twin offering three key performance traits; speed, pivot and control.

The concept of the twin is based around speed and pivot due to the absence of a centre fin. However, control is an essential part of the equation, and this is achieved by marrying the rocker and bottom contours with the right fin positioning, something I’ve studied for years during my tenure at FCS.

I personally like to position my fins quite far back on the tail. This lets you really power-up your turns without fear of skipping out, and adds significant control, especially when surfing backside.

Riding a twin offers a feeling like no other board and the ease at which you can generate and hold speed is quite remarkable. This is not just a board for small, mushy waves either. The Twin can be confidently surfed in overhead waves as well.
